Day 16-20 Tulum

Already our last stop in Caribbean:)

We found an incredible airbnb! Sea view, private pool, can't complain 😀

Maya adrenaline tour! Early wake up but really worth it! 30min quad, 1h zip line, abseiling and we ended up with a unique cenote : you enter in a cave and thanks to the guide s light,  we could enjoy unique stalactites.

Chiringuito beach club. Went there to go kiting but the kite teacher/owner didn't feel like working that day! However we spent a beautiful day at the beach with good food and good music :)

Day 12-15-> Akumal

Akumal is a unique place known for its wite sand beaches and its turtles! Since generations, grean sea turtels come here to enjoy unique seagrass. Akumal literally means "place of turles" in Mayan.

However things has changes since last time we were here! Beach access has been fully privatized and tour operators has taken the turtle business over.

We are in "the best" airbnb so far-150m2 - sea view- almost enough rooms for 2 families..it s low season so we can enjoy very nice places for an affordable price, kids love it

In between 2 jumps in the pool, kids discover snorkeling:) first directly in front of our flat. We had a walk 5 min to avoid the "sargazo" - biggest enemy of tourist, transforming the paraidizing Caribbean beaches into smelly brownish water - but we don't mind - we avoid it and could sea corals, small fishes, a bit waiwy but ideal for a first experience for kids. Next day we went to a Laguna close to our flat, fresh water, a lot of fishes and really easy to move around. Impressive how colorfull it s down there : parrotfish, angelfish and o lot of other beautiful ones :)))

Last day in akumal was the climax. We took the tour from Don Jose -> thanks Bianca for organizing as Michael has been doing a 3 days screen detox.

Took a little boat (for 100m) jumped in the water and enjoyed about 1h incredible snorkling : manta Ray, lobster, Turtle, triggerfish, etc. Underwater pictures to follow

Day 11- El Cuyo-> Akumal

After a great morning breakfast, Mateo is ready for his first kite session! So excited. While Mathilde and Bianca enjoy the shady airbnb pool, mateo and Michael go to the windy spot of El Cuyo to meet Ariel at 10am, before the wind gets too strong. Mateo spent 1.5h enjoying a small 6m kite while Michael could do a second session. Beautifully water, good wind

After filling the cooler of fresh fish and octopus, we started the 3h drive to Akumal. On the way we stopped at playa del Carmen to show the kids where we used to live with bianca -10years ago - for around 6 months. After a great dinner at Nativo restaurant we arrived to our best airbnb so far : beach front-150m2 - huge rooms - life treat us good :)

Day 10- El Cuyo : 11500 flamengos

After a slow wake up, we fill the car with water and sandwiches and direction for a morning trip to Las Coloradas. After paying 1000 pesos (approx 50chf), Bryan, the guide, put his sun protector sweater, jump on his bike and ask us to follow him for the 45km sandy road :)

Impressivr view on "salinas", flamengos. Mathilde is soooo happy, that was her one and only wish for the vaccation : see flamengos ;)

Day 9 - El Cuyo

This day is a accommodating day: finding a supermarket (kind of), finding the "fruteria", finding octopus, fixing flat (almost 15 power shortages today), etc. El cuyo is a bit far from everything. No network coverage (i m writing tonight thanks to Elon Musk and his starlink service..). After few hours in the swimming pool (yea, that s cool) - we went to the beach and Michael could enjoy a precious hour of kitesurf

Day 8 valladollid ->El Cuyo

What a day! We had a quiet breakfast at hotel Real Hispano en valladollid, and decided to book an appartment for 3 nights in El Cuyo. After a pleasant swim in the pool, we decided to move. Mummy, kids are hungry (again) so let's stop for some tacos and on the road again. After 1h30 drive, we are in deep Mexican countryside and stop at a newly opened beautiful Cenote. Mateo is happy to show all of the locals he can jump through an whole from abt 10m

Arrival by night in El Cuyo, wahhh, it s pritty far from all. We managed to enter our flat via a code and went out for dinner. What a surprise ! Fresh shrimps & fish :).

Day 7 - Chichén-Itzá

Kids were impressed about mayan sacrifice and poc ta poc play were the looser captain got his head cut !

Pictures in the lobby :) - cathedral de valladollod - cenote x-catun

Day 6 - Isla Mujeres -> Valladollid

Day 6 was a transfer day. After having a last bath in the sea, we packed our staff, took the ferry, get our rented car and travelled about 2 hours to valladollid. We arrived in a beautifull colonial hotel, had a fantastic jump in the pool and sucullent dinner. It s about 38C !!

Guacamole, cochinita pivil, mole, tamales, limonada, coronita :)

Day 5: Isla Mujeres

Today was : golf cart round the island, punta sur, playa tiburon (last time Michael has been there was in 2003 with his friend Gil !!) and tacos. Quite a relaxing day aftur a sunny day yesterday, we do really enjoy holidays :) tomorrow back on the road to... Valladollid

Day 4 : Isla Mujeres

Today is our first beach day! We are settled in a nice airbnb in the cemter of the (tiny) town. Here it s a little paradise, fine white sand (which do not burn your feet). Pritty touristy destination - but we are out of main season - so very convenient.

Michael finalized some work related topic on the morning and Bianca, feeling at home found some fresh mango and tortillas for breakfast, awesome!

After that, we spent the whole day at the beach :)))

The food is so delicious (ceviche, tacos, aguacates) viva mexico!

Day 3 : NY -> Cancun -> Isla mujeres

Next stop Cancun! Woke up 5 am- took a uber to the airport - kind stinky chinease driver- and ready to board

Jet blue - easyjet of the US - one cabin bag & one small item per person, flight extremely ponctual - wifi onboard!

After a pleasant flight, we arrived in Cancun:) temperature at least 20C higher than NY! We struggled to find a taxi at the airport (wanted to book a Uber but it seems the fight between regular taxi and Uber is all over the world)- anyway a pleasant lady accompany unto the 40min drive to Juares and the ferry port to isla Mujeres. People are so friendly!
